Who is Shane Coleman

Shane is Ted's younger brother. He has a nasty side to him that emerges any time there is something he feels he needs to compete with Ted over. Because of this nasty streak, Ted's former fiance lost her life a couple of years before he met Christine which put a lot of hard feelings between the brothers. Now, Shane has found a new 'plaything'; Christine.

Christine has a certain way about her that Shane finds irresistible. Her strength and forwardness are intriguing as he finds himself wanting her and pushes his boundaries to win her over. Unfortunately, she is a lot stronger than he thought and resists his advances and blackmail. Eventually Shane finds himself throwing up the white flag where Christine is concerned although he still has hope and that little nasty streak that keeps him continuing to want the one woman he cannot have. His feelings go up and down like a roller coaster as he tries to protect her in one moment and then turns on her in the next. He is surely a character that needs to be watched!

How the original story developed.

The very first writing of "Deadly Dreams: Burning Desires" was done in 1991. I remember back then having been bored with my life and unfulfilled in the romance department, I embarked on a journey living vicariously through my story, developing each character out of the needs and feelings I either had or lacked. In a way, all the characters are 'me'!

I was living in San Diego at the time and had come through the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas on the way to Connecticut to visit family. I fell in love with the place, having been a lot like where I had grown up and therefore decided it would be a good place for Christine to visit and have her adventure. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would actually end up living there in real life! Since I had only been there for one day, I vaguely remembered the layout of the town and ultimately in the rewrite, I kept things changed so as not to make waves with the inhabitants of this lovely area!

It originally took six months to write; working nearly every day for hours at a time. The rewrite took two more months. I lived this story in my mind, weaving the plot in my head; rewinding and redoing the story until it felt right. It was a lot like making a movie only I was the director and all the actors! I can honestly say it was the most fun I have ever had in front of a computer!

Second Book Coming Soon!

Ok, folks, I'm a little off on the time frame; about a month off anyway, but book number two will be coming out in a couple of weeks!! The first editing has been completed and I'm thinking of adding a little more spice to the last couple of pages. It sort of falls a wee bit flat there, but other than that, it looks good!! Another smooth read!

The second book, "Deadly Dreams: Driving Force" picks up where the first book leaves off only in the second book, there's not as much character building since the main characters are introduced in the first book. As requested, I have added more paranormal events as Christine discovers a new ability! This time, however, she is led to save someone else's life through her visions and dreams but then finds herself in yet another predicament that requires the help of her lover Ted, his brother Shane and her coworker Greg.

The climax of the story has our heroine Christine battling the serial killer in the astral plane where she is alone in her quest to save herself and the lives of other women who might find themselves in the clutches of this purely devilish man and his hellish tortures!

Who is Richard Harrison

Richard is the evil stalker who will stop at nothing to own Christine! He will even go as far as murdering Ted if that's what it takes. He tries at first to win her over with gifts but realizing that is not working, he begins to plan a devious way to take what he wants.

Richard is a purely evil man who uses a town diner owner to get closer to the object of his desire. He woo's Judy and sweeps her off her feet with lies and sweet talk only to shoot her in the end. Does she survive the shooting and get revenge? You'll have to read the book to find out!

While writing the book, I became each character in my mind. I'm not sure where Richard comes in to play in my mental and emotional state, but he was rather fun to write and gave me the opportunity to become someone hellish and insane if only in my mind!

Who is Ted Coleman?

Ted is the main male character in Burning Desires. He is respectful and kind; brought up in a traditional southern household on a ranch. He works hard and loves his family very much and will do anything for anyone who needs help. After having lost a fiance a couple of years ago, Ted had remained an eligible bachelor until he met Christine. Their chemistry was just what he needed to pull him up out of the depression he had been in since his fiance died.

Ted's character was built from a young man I met in southern California. His name was also Ted but in order to not get into legal issues using his last name, I changed it. As I was sitting in my writing room, my thoughts wandered trying to come up with a suitable name for the sandy haired boy toy when my eyes happened upon a Coleman cooler sitting against the wall. I thought Coleman sounded respectable and thus the name Ted Coleman was born! Although the description of the character was a little more muscular than the actual person he was named after, the other details are the same; blond hair, tan smooth skin, hazel eyes, nice smile. Yeah, you get the idea!

Who is Christine Marlow?

Christine of course is me, well sort of. I 'see' the story line through her eyes as most fiction writers will do although each character I am working on, I also become them. You have to feel what they are feeling and see what they are seeing in order to make your character real to the reader. Hopefully the reader connects with one of the characters and 'becomes' that character as they read the story, bringing them into the adventure!

Christine Marlow is an award-winning photographer who works for a large company in San Diego that caters to all the major magazines. She is single and very independent and frankly she just hasn't had time for dating since she travels the world going on assignment with her two male associates, also photographers. Together they make a great team; strong and adventurous. They help keep each other out of trouble in foreign countries but most of all they have a great work relationship together.

She likes old cars, old homes and the nostalgia that goes along with them. When she decides to finally take a vacation after 11 years of working for the company, she chooses a place full of nostalgia in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas. There she meets a young man who changes her life as well as finds himself having a life changing experience with her as well. Together they build a quick and strong relationship.

When she starts getting strange gifts from someone she doesn't know, she feels scared but challenged. Her fierceness and independence try to overcome the fear but then she finds herself dealing with something completely new to her; precognitive dreams and vivid visions that warn her of horrors she is not prepared to deal with! She then finds herself having to lean on her new friends for support and help; something she is not very good at.

Personally, I have had such dreams and visions. Not quite as horrific as Christine's but precognitive nonetheless. The Deadly Dreams books are developed from dreams I have written in my journals and the dreams in the first book are actual dreams, verbatim, that I have had during the writing of 'Burning Desires'!

When I first started this writing adventure in 1991, I was not comfortable writing in the genre I had started it in. Originally, the book was called "Pink Lace and Roses" which is where the cover idea came from only my daughter put a sinister twist to the pink lace and roses! It was supposed to be a romance novel and I was not really wanting to get stuck in that genre but it was what was 'hot' at the time. Honestly, it was a slowwww read and I put it away for many years.

In September of '09, I was bored at work and decided to pull it back out and rewrite it, especially since the 'hot' topic nowadays was something more along the line of what I originally wanted to write! So, I set off to rewrite it one page at a time, keeping the parts I liked, the characters, and the setting but getting rid of all the stupid repetitive and boring things and spicing it up with a few new twists and turns. The result was something much more gripping and a smoother read!

I have finally finished writing the second book in the series and am working on the editing to make sure I have all the facts and new characters straight as well as making sure the storyline flows smoothly. The second book has more paranormal adventure and twists in it as the main characters are already set in the first book. It also has a serial killer who does some pretty messed up things to his victims.
